BECAUSE... WISCONSIN

Jerry Christmas

When you're eating and drinking (and drinking and eating and drinking some more) around the holidays, health is probably not the foremost thing on your mind. And that's just fine when you're drinking Tom and Jerrys! This insanely rich (and definitely unhealthy) concoction is a Wisconsin Christmas favorite. A cousin of the more popular Egg Nog (peep our killer recipe below) with its own unique charms, the Tom and Jerry was invented 200 years ago by writer Pierce Egan to promote his stage play, Tom and Jerry, or Life in London. You can make your own, or do as the locals do, and buy the premade batter. You know a drink goes hard when the base is literally a batter.

THE FORMULA

GOIN' NOG WILD

There are so many recipes that we love - both our own, and those of our idols - that we figured we should start sharing some of them with you, our dear readers! Up this week - our Beverage Director's famous Egg Nog! Be careful, because this stuff will hit you HARD.

4 oz Dark Rum4 oz Bourbon4 Whole Eggs ¾ Cup White Sugar½ Tsp Ground Nutmeg¼ Tsp Ground Cinnamon1.5 Cups Whole Milk1 Cup Heavy Cream(Scale recipe up as needed)

Mix eggs alone in blender on medium for ~30 seconds. Then add sugar and blend for another ~30 seconds. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend for another ~30 seconds or until thoroughly combined. Transfer to airtight container, and let sit refrigerated for at least 24 hours.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Our favorite Christmas nips and tipples

Everyone likes to overdo it a little around the holidays, whether it's with food, drinks, or Hallmark Christmas movies. What do we like to drink during the most wonderful time of the year? Everything! Be more specific you say? Fine! Here are some holiday drinks that really butter our bread:- Mexican Hot Chocolate. A slightly amped up version of that boring old Swiss Miss mix you're probably used to.- Mulled Wine. Because sangria is so much better when it's hot and spiced (so not actually sangria lol).- A Merriment Social original, the Cindy Lou Who! Make it with 1 1/2 ounces of bourbon, 1 ounce of Aperol, half an ounce of maple syrup, 3/4 ounce of fresh lemon, and a dash of Bittercube Jamaican #1 bitters - shake, serve over ice, and enjoy!- Scotch Toddies. A little extra oomph in a winter classic.- The Greenpoint. A slightly herbaceous take on a Manhattan. Pro tip: we garnish ours with an orange peel instead of lemon.

This oughtta get you started...
