The Slice #29

from your friendly, neighborhood pizza joint

What's up pizza people?!? This is The Slice, the newsletter that's cooler than a polar bear's toenails. This week, we're talking Easter! Sure, it's fun to watch the little ones search for eggs, but the real star of the show is the FOOD!

WHY WE BRUNCH

Easter is one of the biggest dine-out days of the year, and it's obviously centered around brunch. But where did this piquant portmanteau come from? Did someone decide out of the blue to combine two of the three daily meals? Not quite - there are two schools of thought when it comes to the true origin of the midday munchies. The first possible precursor is the English Hunt Breakfast. These lavish spreads were chock-full of many of the items you'll see on brunch menus nowadays, and shared the same ethos of indulgence. Others think that brunch originated with the grand feasts that Catholics would enjoy after fasting before mass. Either way, brunch took off, and now it's an unstoppable culinary freight train. If you're still looking to make Easter plans, we've got all the deets on three of the hottest spots in town! ;)

THIRD COAST

You KNOW the food is going to be amazing. We're talking Waffle Brûlée with Foie Gras, Biscuits + Lobster "Gravy", Beef Cheek Poutine, and plenty of other bangers. But we've got something to wet your whistle as well! From an Italian take on a Mimosa to our always awesome wine list, we've got what you need to get the party started.

MERRIMENT SOCIAL

This Easter spread is like if Giannis could shoot threes - the total package. We've got something for everyone, from sweet to savory and back again. Pro tip: If you've never tried our signature Brussels Sprouts, do yourself a favor and snag a big spoonful!

FLOURCHILD

Two words: BREAKFAST PIZZA. You've got all the most important meal of the day, in pizza form. This bad mamma jamma starts with a base of white sauce and whipped potatoes, topped with some prosciutto, fresh mozz, and lemon arugula, and finished with a drizzle of herb hollandaise. This is only one of the highlights of our Easter menu, which even includes a build-your-own cinnamon roll "bar"! Reserve your spot before they're all gone!
