The Slice #33

from your friendly, neighborhood pizza joint

What's up pizza people?!? This is The Slice, the newsletter with more love to give than your mom when you skinned your knee skateboarding. This week, we're talkin' about our favorite people in the world - our moms! These amazing ladies make the world go 'round - let's celebrate them!

MOMS RULE

Sure, dads are cool and everything, but they didn't give us life! Moms are often the bedrock of many families - always there when you need them with a kind word, a kiss on the cheek, and a tasty snack. Gender roles have changed a lot (for the better) over the last couple of generations, but we're going to speak from our own experiences - if yours are different, we'd love to hear about it! We got together with team members from the restaurants and collected a few of the random things we love about our Moms:- "When we were kids, during the summer, she put on "Backyard Olympics" - complete with yogurt lid "medals" and tiki torch opening ceremonies."- "It sounds super basic, but she would let us stay up late to watch SNL on Saturdays."- "We used to play the card game "War" all the time. She would help me stack the deck so I could beat my dad. I still don't think he knows!"- "At any kind of event, regardless of our age, she has always been able to get my brothers and I to dance with her. We are NOT good dancers."- "She bailed me out of jail!"- "When I was in middle school, Mom would take me to Costco to buy gum, which I would then sell at school. It was better than just an allowance, because it also came with a sense of accomplishment."- "Stuck up for me and kept my confidence up when I was bullied <3"- I used to play "football" with my little Ninja Turtle toys, and she build a stadium for them to "play" in. So cool."- "She would work so hard on homemade Halloween costumes, even when my little sister wanted to be Jafar from the Aladdin movies three years in a row."- "Whenever I was sick growing up, my Mom would hook it up with chicken noodle soup, Sprite, and The Price is Right on TV. Best medicine ever!"- "Got us to eat our broccoli by convincing us they were little trees and we were like Godzilla."- "Fruit Roll-Ups and Power Rangers on TV every day when we got home from school."- "Simple stuff, like driving me and my siblings to and from all the sports we played growing up. She basically lived in that Chevy Suburban on weekends, but she did it for us."

WE LOVE YOU MOM(S)!!!

MOM SNACKS

Moms make the BEST snacks - that's a scientific fact. Every family has their own go-tos, but while we're on the subject of nostalgia, we thought we'd compile some of our favorite Mom Snacks:- Capri Suns and orange slices after soccer games- Scotcheroos- Peanut butter-banana-honey sandwiches- Ants on a log- OK, hear me out: PB&J, but as a tortilla wrap instead of a sandwich- The GOAT: Grilled cheese and tomato soup

Did we miss anything? Let us know!
